With hundreds of powers to choose from and a simple style that eliminates pesky proficiencies and complicated character design processes, you can create a hero or villain in minutes! Spend less time learning rules and more time playing with the Super Power System!
(1) choose your powers!
The proprietary system offers multiple paths for character creation, based on origins, category of powers, or random design! There are nearly 200 different powers to choose from. Using any of the methods or just choosing the ones you want, you could conceivably recreate your favorite comic book characters or create a new, unique creation all your own! There are also 50 optional weaknesses to choose from, offering negative effects, some bonuses, and great roleplaying opportunities! Will an arch-nemesis, childhood illness, or strange phobia define your character?
(2) Determine the extent of your powers!
Each power comes with a variety of advantages and disadvantages, although they are largely positive things. Roll to determine the extents of your powers. With randomized bonuses for your character, no two characters will ever be the same!
(3) Fill in your character sheet
Transfer the bonuses from your powers and weaknesses to the character sheet.
(4) Roll your stats!
There are several options for this, but every character is going to start with stats that make them a bit superhuman. Roll to add to your Stat Blocks, 2d10 for each Stat Block, and 3d10 for Resistances, which help defend you from certain types of attacks.
(5) Total it up!
How powerful are you? Use your base, add your powers and extra stat bonuses. You might even have gear to help you become even more powerful.
(6) Determine your bonuses for rolls!
Your character will need to make checks, fight, and resist attacks. Each character will have to determine their bonuses, all from 1 simple chart! Most characters will have somewhere between -1 to +5 for most rolls.
(7) Total your stat blocks!
While other systems might only use something like a single stat to determine important things like hit points, the Super Power System uses all of your Body Stats. Similarly, all of the Mind Stats are used to determine Mind Hit Points. So, building up any stat in any block does help your character overall.
(8) Total your resistances
Simple math will help you total your resistances. How strong is your character against things like heat, fire, cold, or energy attacks?
(9) Determine your Resistance Bonuses!
Your total resistance scores will help determine your bonuses to rolls against certain types of attacks. All of this can be determined by that same simple chart from before.
(10) Determine your Combat Stats!
Use your totaled stats and the bonuses they offer to work through simple formulas. If you can add and multiply, you can do this! You'll figure out things like Hit Points, Defense Scores, Initiative Rolls, and Points for other abilities.
(11) Determine your actions!
With great powers come great actions! You and your Game Master are collaboratively telling a story. Together, you can decided on the type of actions your character can perform with your powers. Have lightning powers? Great! Now, are you going to have a shocking grasp? Will you electrify any object you touch? Can you hit multiple targets with blasts of electricity from your fingertips? These are the things you'll have to decide together. Then, upgrade those powers as you level up! Things like speed, number of targets, damage, and number of attacks per round can be upgraded as your character grows!
(12) The Final touches!
Your character's specific and unique mix of abilities give you the ability to craft a character background that is unlike any other character in any comic book universe! Draw your character, write their bio, and make your character yours! No matter where they start, the stories that get told together with your friends will shape and change your character.
Get out there and adventure! Only you can decide your character's fate. Will they be a hero, a villain, and anti-hero, or somewhere in-between? You are telling a collaborative story with your friends as you play! Need more ideas? Check out our Alternate Earth history in our Setting Guide!
super powered battles with the super power system
Now that you have your powers, you have to use them! Get into the action with the Super Power System!
(1) Determine Turn Order!
Characters will all have to determine what kind of action(s) they want to perform during the round. Then we can roll initiatives for normal, magical, or psionic actions. This lets us know who goes first. Sometimes, one character will have powers that give them a chance to go first, regardless of other characters' speeds.
(2) Take your turn!
Characters can move, perform actions, and attack. Successful attack rolls will be compared to any applicable resistances and damage may be dealt. Characters may choose to dodge/evade attacks for their turns.
(3) Everyone gets a turn!
Every player character and non-player character will get a turn, so long as they aren't incapacitated or removed from combat! The GM will explain the actions as they unfold, adjusting other characters' actions in response to what has already occurred.
(4) repeat as needed!
Keep battling until someone is down and out, or until someone flees! Each new round requires initiative rolls.
